Packing Summary

Three friends - Jerome (narrator), Harris, and George decide to leave the Thames. And to set up their campaign, they had to move forward with the important task of packing the goods for it. The narrator volunteered for the task as he believed he was particularly good at packing. Harris and George agreed "with a readiness that was somewhat unheard of," meaning that the narrator felt that something was not quite right. The narrator of course meant that he supervises and guides his friends while they pack. However, his friends took his advice seriously and, to his great shock, watched him from a relaxed lunch position as they were packing up. The narrator, though irritated by his friends for sitting for nothing while he was working, Been busy packing straight away. The packing took a long time - until the narrator thought it would happen; But he finally got it done, and he pulled the bag.

Both of his friends silently watched him pack up, and while he was done with the packing, Harris asked the narrator if he was not going to pack his shoes. The bag had to be reopened to pack the boots. The teasing statement barely ended up packing the shoes reminiscent of his toothbrush. Unsure of how to pack his toothbrush, the narrator empties the bag and hunts through all of its contents to locate the brush. Of course, everything in the bag had to be removed, but although he found George and Harris's toothbrushes, he could not find his own. He made a ruckus through the bag, until he was found inside a boot. The bag was then destroyed once again.

This time the question came from George who wanted to know if the soap was packed or not. By this time the narrator was so irritated that he did not care whether the soap was inside or not; And he closed the bag and slammed it. This happened when they found that they had packed their glasses too and had to reopen the bag. After all, it was past ten when the packing was finally done.

After the expertise demonstrated by the narrator to pack the bags, George and Harris decided to pack the hampers themselves and show the narrator the real art of packing. However, they were equally clumsy and broke a cup at the very beginning. Harris then packed strawberry jam on top of a tomato and had to scoop out the squashed tomatoes with a spoon. And as the narrator sat on the edge of the table and saw it, they treaded on the butter and beat the pie by pouring heavy things on them. Meanwhile, salt flew all over the place while packing. After peeling the butter from George's slippers, he unsuccessfully attempted to squeeze it into the kettle. He finally threw it out and placed it on a chair. Harris sat down on it and Butter clung to him while the two continued to search for him throughout the room. George saw it behind Harris's back and it was packed in the teapot.

Montmorency, his pet dog, got in the way of everyone and was sworn in. He came and sat on things, just as they were being packed, climbed into the jam, scattered the spoons and crushed the lemons as if they were rats, Harris was so angry that he tried to kill her with a frying pan. tried.

Finally, by 12.50 at night, packing was done. This was followed by a discussion on "wake up" time, but George, who was to wake everyone up, was so tired that he fell asleep before the time was set.

The narrator and Harris decided that 6.30 would be the right time to get up in the morning and then they too went to sleep.
