This is Jody's Fawn Summary
This story is an extract taken from the popular fiction 'The Earling' written by Marjorie Kinnan Rorling. It deals with a young child, Jodi and her feelings. He has a very sensitive mind which also makes him a pure heart.
One day, a rattlesnake bites Jody's father. To save him, he kills a doe so that he can use the heart and liver to extract poison. He saves his father but unfortunately, Fawn is left alone.
The idea of a little fad makes Jody very sad. He is unable to get her out of his head so he decides to bring her home. He discusses this with his father but he hesitates. However, he makes her realize that it was his responsibility as he killed Doe.
The father now agrees with Jody and allows him to do so. In addition, he reminds Jodie that she will need her mother's permission. Jodi also talks to her mother about the same. She is surprised when she first hears the idea. Jody then realizes that leaving Fon alone would be ungrateful.
Dr. Wilson also helps Jodie convince her mother. He says that nothing comes for free and now they have to pay for it. The mill-wheel also chaps to take Jodi into the forest. Mom now only agrees on the condition that Jodie keeps her promise.
Jodi promises to feed her share of milk. They then venture out into the forest and finally locate the small waterfall. Jodi takes her in her arms to her father. She then feeds him with his hands.
Thus, Fawn is finally home and ready to be picked up by Jody. So, it tells us that an innocent heart and beautiful soul can bring changes in one's life.
The story is a great lesson that teaches us about human consciousness and sensitive children with their loving hearts and loving nature.
