Golu Grows a Nose Summary
A while back, elephants were devoid of tights. Also, in place of tights, the elephant had a small nose. Golu was a baby elephant who was inquisitive by nature and had many questions in mind. Golu once asked an ostrich why it does not fly like other birds. He also asked a question to his great uncle, the hippopotamus, why his eyes are so red.
Upon meeting a myna, Golu asks what a crocodile eats for dinner. Most notable, Golu had no experience of crocodiles. He had never seen a crocodile before and had no idea about his diet. As a result, Golu became more and more curious about the crocodile and its eating habit. To search for the north, Golu decided to visit the Great Limpopo River because of the advice given by Mayan.
On the way to the river, Golu happened to meet a dragon. So, Golu asked Python the same crocodile question, but got no answer from Python. However, the dragon silently decides to chase Golu. This will be a very important decision, as we shall come to know later. Finally, Golu reached the river. Upon reaching the river, Golu noticed a large log of wood. As it turns out, this log of wood was actually a crocodile.
The crocodile swooped down on Golu and asked him if he had ever seen a crocodile before. Crocodile states that he was a crocodile and he sheds crocodile tears to show that it was true. Golu was definitely horrified at this moment. Despite the fear, Golu asks the crocodile what a hat for dinner. The crocodile orders Golu to come to him. He asks Golu to come close so that he whispers in response.
As Golu approached him, the crocodile quickly caught him by his nose. The crocodile tells Golu that it will be his dinner. Seeing this, the dragon came to help Golu. The dragon asked Golu to pull him vigorously. Now the conflict between the crocodile and Golu started. The dragon quickly seized himself around Golu and began to drag him. During this struggle, Golu's nose kept getting bigger.
Eventually Golu was freed from the crocodile but his nose grew to be five feet long. Golu spent a long time shrinking his nose. The dragon then reminded him of the advantages of a long nose. Finally, Golu thanks the wise dragon and goes home.
