The Ashes That Made Trees Bloom Summary

In the 19th century in Japan, an old couple lived. They had a pet dog that they loved as if it was their child. It was provided with a pillow and was lovingly fed by the couple.

The old man was a rice farmer and then his pets went to the fields. The old man's kindness can be seen as he offered food to the birds. One day, the dogs took the man to a place and started scratching the earth there.

The man dug the earth and heaped gold. They got rich and bought a piece of land. He gave a feast to his friends and donated it to his poor friends. He called his dog in a thankful manner.

Unlike the altruistic couple, there lived an insensitive couple. He tried to stop the dog by Prasad and other dainies but could not succeed in his cause.

They used force to take the dog to a place where they could meet somewhere to dig gold. The dog kills them and begins to scratch at the spot where a dead kitten was buried.

The angry old man kills the dog and his wife nearly cuts her head off with a sharp hoe. Then they buried his body in the mud and made a pile of earth on it.

The old men regretted the breakup with the dog and mourned his death. He set up bamboo tubes to demarcate his grave and placed a cup of water and food to feed them.

One day, while the old man was sleeping, the dog's soul appeared in his dream and asked him to cut down a pure tree near his grave. It wanted him to make a grinder for mortar and bean sauce for his rice pastry.

The older followed the dog's wish. When it was New Year's time, they decided to make rice pastries. When the rice was boiled and poured into a mortar. The old man raised the hammer to pound the flour.

To his surprise, it turned into a pile of gold coins. The same happened to the old woman, when she poured the beans into the hand grinder, gold started dripping like rain.

The jealous neighbors were watching everything so that they came to borrow the mortar and the magic mill. But his pastry became a foul mass of insects. They were fierce and cut the mill into pieces and used it for firewood.

The benevolent old dreamed again. The spirit of the dog informs him how the mill was lit. He then asked her to take the ashes of the ashes to re-bloom on the trees.

The old man went to his neighbor's house and found them sitting at the mill's fire-place before burning. He was offended to take away the bucket full of ashes.

He climbed his withered cloth tree and sprinkled ashes. The scent of freshly blooming flowers reached the village.

The old man climbed the cherry tree when he found out that the daimyo was arriving. The villagers began bowing before the king until the processing had passed.
