The Great Stone Face part 1 summary

The Great Stone Face was an artwork of nature, created by some huge rocks on the perpendicular edge of a mountain. The rocks were piled in such a way that when viewed from a particular distance, they resemble a human face. So one day, a mother and son sat outside their hut on the Great Stone Face and the mother told her son about an old prophecy named Ernest, stating that at some future date, a man came to the valley. I will be born who will bear the likeness of the Great Stone Face and he will be the greatest and the richest of the time. Ernest expressed his desire to live to see, love and care for the man and his mother, he did not want to disappoint her, so he said "maybe you can". From that day onwards, Ernest never forgot the prophecy and whenever he appeared in the valley, Thought about it. Ernest was an obedient and hardworking child who helped his mother. One fine day, a word spread throughout the city that a son of a valley named Gaithergold who had gone out of it to establish himself as a shopkeeper wanted to spend his last days in his native valley. He was so rich that it used to take a hundred years to count his wealth. A rumor was spread that he is the prophetic man.

People were excited to see and see him, except for Ernest who all believed that Mr. Gathgold bore the likeness of the Great Stone Face. He lost all his wealth before he died, only then did people agree that he was not a man by prophecy. As Ernest was a simple and helpful child, he became a hardworking and kind man in his youth. He was unnoticed in the field because he was straightforward and simple who almost paid no attention to him. The only thing that people noticed was that he would stare at the Great Stone Face for hours after finishing work for the day. People thought it silly, but still worthless because he was a neighbor. By the time he grew up, the Great Stone Face had become a teacher for earnest. This made him smarter than others of his age. After some time, another son of the valley, He, who had left to become a soldier, expressed his desire to spend his last days in the valley where he was born. After a hard fight, he rose to the rank of a famous commander and was known on the battlefield as Blood-and-Thunder. A word spread in the valley that this great fighter is the man they have been waiting for. Preparations to welcome him began, and people who had never even thought about seeing the Great Stone Face began to watch it for hours to find out what blood-and-thunder would look like. On the day of their arrival, everyone hurried off to gather at the place to do their work, where the feast was held to welcome the general. When people saw him, they shouted with joy as they claimed that he had the same face. At first, Ernest could not see him but when he did, So he could compare the blood-and-thunder and the Great Stone Face that stood near him. He concluded that there was no equality declared by the people. He drifted away in despair as his heart (it felt as if this Great Stone Face was saying to himself) whispered to him, "Fear not, earnest, man will come".
