The Trees Summary
The poet says that the trees are going out of the stairs of the houses into the open forest. This is unattainable because the trees are immovable and, therefore, we feel that the poem has a symbolic meaning. We explain that trees refer to females who have healed themselves and are ready to move out of their homes in the jungles to fulfill their primary purpose of filling the world with mankind. She further states that the forest has been empty for the last several days and therefore, no birds can be seen because they have no trees to sit on, can be seen on pests as they have no shelter and the sun. No shadow can become light. The forest of humanity is empty for many days but will soon be full and bright.
The poet describes the struggle by the plants to reach the forest. She says the roots served to separate themselves from the floor of the veranda all night. The leaves tried hard to reach the glass window so that they could go outside. Even the small trunks of trees made a lot of effort to free themselves. Big branches were also trying hard to get out of the room ceiling. We can say that the women are desperate for a change and their effort is compared to a patient who has been released from the hospital and tries to get out in a hurry. Perhaps because they are half aware and under the influence of a drug, they are unstable but in a hurry to leave the clinic.
The poet says that she is sitting in her verandah, writing long letters. She does not mention in her letters about the trees leaving her house. She says that the night is very clear. She can see the full moon that is shining. The smell of leaves and lichen is like a voice that screams and expresses a desire for liberation from the periphery of the house.
His head is filled with slow sounds made of trees desperate to get out. The next day these voices will not be heard. The poet asks the reader to listen carefully because change is about to happen. He hears a glass window breaking and trees stumble into the night. Wind is blowing outside. It comes from trees. The moon is like a mirror and appears as if the shadow of an oak tree splits the moon into several pieces.
