Vocation Summary
The child said that it was 10 o'clock when Gong struck and made a voice to announce the first part of the day. He said that this was also the time for his going to school. On his way to school, he would see a salesman who shouted "bangles, crystal bangles" to sell his bangles.
While looking at him, the child felt that the seller was free. He was in no hurry to get anywhere, unlike the child who was supposed to arrive at his school on time and return home. He thought that the bangle seller was free from any time constraints, the limitation of the place meant that he was free to go to any place opposite him. He felt as if he was subject to strict comments and the seller was enjoying complete freedom.
Thus, he was so impressed with his freedom that he wished to become a hunter. He wanted to move freely and shout like him on the streets.
After returning from school at four in the afternoon, the child saw the gardener through the gate of the house. He looked outside and saw him digging mud.
Here the child was attracted to the freedom to live in the dust and to do the things of his choice with his tools. He thought that the gardener had the freedom to dirty his clothes with mud, play with his tools, stay in the sun for too long, get wet with sweat or do anything and he was not getting any punishment for all this. Whereas if he was punished for doing all this. So, completely unaware of the difficulties of that worker, he was attracted as a gardener to do things of his choice and there was no one around to stop him.
At night his mother used to send him to sleep in his room where there was an open window. From there he would see a guard walking around, in the dark, lonely street from one side to the other. He also had a lamp in his hand that looked like a supernatural being with a red eye in his head.
The child was so attracted by his tricks that he wanted to be a watchman, who could walk the streets all night, with a lantern in hand, after his shadow.
