Chandni Summary

An old man by the name of Abbu Khan lived in Almora. In addition, he had a love for goats and had them as pets. In addition, he gave protection to his goats and gave them funny names. At night, Abbu Khan took his goats to graze.

Abbu Khan provided the best of grass and grain to his goats. Despite this, the goats were preferred to flee the hut. So, the goats left the hut and were killed as a result by a wolf.

Khan was a caring person and could not accept the reality. As a result, he became depressed that he was unable to stop killing his goats. He was determined not to keep goats anymore.

However, Abbu Khan became lonely and missed his pets. Therefore, he bought a beautiful young goat for himself. He came to the decision that his name would be moonlight because of its white color which was like snow.

As the years passed, Abbu Khan was convinced that Moonlight would never leave him. However, Abbu Khan's opinion was wrong as Chandni wished for independence. He was mesmerized by the beauty of the sunny hills.

Moonlight hated the rope she tied. In addition, she began to stop eating and became weak in health. Abbu Khan was really sad when he understood that he wanted to leave.

Abbu Khan warned Chandni about the wolf. However, Chandni still had more desire to leave and said that her pair of horns would save her. Abbu became enraged due to his reasoning and pushed her inside a small hut.

Every attempt to convince him failed and he left the hut. Moonlight was very happy to see the hills. Furthermore, he felt as if the hills were welcoming him and he had assumed his freedom.

The evening was setting in and darkness was spreading. Then he heard a kind of dazzling sound. He is horrified by the presence of a wolf.

Chandni was confused whether she should fight with Abbu Khan or go back. Then the wolf made his presence known in front of the moonlight. Chandni finally decides to act and fight like a brave soldier.

He came to decide to fight despite being weaker than the mighty wolf. Chandni fought with all her might and the fight lasted till dawn. At that time, the sound of morning prayers was coming from a nearby mosque.

It seems that Chandni was killed by the end of the fight. Most birds think that the mighty wolf prevailed. However, according to a wise bird, the moonlight was the winner.
