How to Tell Wild Animals Summary
The poet is describing various wild animals in a very interesting and mysterious way. These animals are very dangerous, but the poetess is presenting them one by one in a very funny manner. First, she tells us about the Asiatic lion. She says that if you are going to the jungles of the East and there we see an animal whose skin is crooked and it can roar from which we can die of fear. This means that we saw an Asiatic lion. Next, he explained the Bengal tiger as a royal animal that once attacked and killed a man. She jokingly says that if this beautiful black-striped animal kills and eats us, we have definitely met a Bengal tiger.
Next, she says that if we met an animal with black-stained skin and it jumps on it, it is a leopard. Also, she says that if someone cries in pain, it can be of no use because the leopard will not stop attacking her. She then introduces the bear who says he will hug very tightly. Because in this way the bear can kill and hug a person very tightly.
In addition, she asks readers a question whether we know how to recognize the animals that prey on our prey. She then tells about Hyena that he is always smiling and a crocodile with tears in his eyes. This is quite visible when they are killing their prey. Finally, in the list of animals, he introduces the chameleon. She says that it is a lizard-type creature, which does not have ears and wings like a lizard. Only this information can help us differentiate between lizard and chameleon. She further states that the color of a chameleon has the properties of changing its color according to its surroundings and surface color.
So, to explain this, she says that if we look at the tree and if we are just looking at the tree, it definitely means that a chameleon is sitting on it. And it has already browned its color like a tree branch.
