Macavity The Mystery Cat Summary
The poem recounts the story of a mystery cat, Macavity. Macavity is a fictional character and depicts the actions of miscreants. He is also known as 'Hidden Pav'. He is a notorious criminal, detective and trickster and openly disobeys the laws. Macavity is a mastermind and leaves no evidence after committing the crime. Thus, Scotland Yard Police is also helpless. Flying Squad also never managed to catch him because he runs faster than them.
The poet states that the McIavity is unique. He breaks not only human laws but also the laws of nature. It can float in the air without any support and thus breaks the law of gravity of nature. It is said that fakirs have some magical powers, but even they look at her in surprise.
Thus, he has supernatural and magical powers. Surprisingly, even when someone goes to the crime scene, they do not find it. He is not in the basement i.e. under the earth nor is he in the air i.e. in the sky. Thus, we can say that he supersedes the world's top investigative agencies.
The presence of Macavity is also very special. She is easily recognizable because she is a tall and thin ginger cat. His eyes are sunken and there are deep wrinkles on his eyebrows. His barking shows that he is in deep and constant planning of criminal acts. In addition, he never combs his mustache and constantly neglects his skin. Thus, he is full of dust. His head is also very domed. One can find him shaking his head from side to side like a snake. One might think that he is fast asleep, but he will only be a dozen. Thus, he is a skilled cheat, detective and trickster.
The author states that Macavity has a unique character. It seems to him to be an avatar of evil. He says that one can easily see the macavity, maybe it is in the street or the foursome. But, whenever you find him punished for any of his crimes, he is nowhere to be found.
