The Friendly Mongoose Summary
A farmer lived in a village with his wife and a young child. He and his wife both loved their child. One day the farmer spoke his mind to his wife and expressed a desire to bring a pet to his house to give to his son as a companion. His wife also liked the idea and she agreed.
The farmer brought a child as a pet. The child was seen as her child and her son grew up in five or six months. The mongoose grew to its full size while the farmer's son was still only a child.
One day the farmer's wife had to go to the market. He fed the child food and took him to sleep. She picked up the basket to go to the market and told her husband to shut his eyes as the child was sleeping. She said that she does not like to leave her child alone with Mango.
The farmer told him not to be afraid because the marigold was as sweet as his child. Apart from this, both were good friends.
The wife went to the market and the farmer had nothing to do at home, even to his fields, which were not far from home. On the way he also met his friends and met late.
The farmer's wife returned from the market with groceries in her basket. He saw blood on the faces and claws of the corals and started screaming and crying. He thought it was the blood of his child.
He thought that Mongoose had killed her child. He was blinded by the fear inside him and with full force he hit Mongozo with a heavy basket. She then ran inside her baby cot.
He found that the girl was sleeping and a black snake was lying on the floor. In an instant, he understood the whole story. She ran off in search of fiance.
Realizing her mistake, she started crying. He touched the dead man who was lying dead. The farmer whose wife behaved inappropriately with nervousness was repenting but by then it was too late.
