The Shepherd's Treasure Summary 

A poor shepherd lived in Iran. He was so poor that he did not even have a small house. Due to the low number of schools in those days, he could never go to school to read and write.

Despite her poverty and illiteracy, this shepherd was very intelligent. He was able to understand people's pain and often helped them resolve their issues with courage and intelligence. People used to come to meet him to find suggestions and solutions. Due to this ability he became popular. His popularity also reached the king and he thought of meeting him.

Dressed as a shepherd and hiding his true identity, the king reached the shepherd's cave on a mule. The moment the shepherd saw him coming into his cave, he rose to greet him. He brought the traveler inside his cave and gave him water and food. The king rested and stayed with him in the cave overnight. The king was impressed by her friendly, warm welcome and words of wisdom.

Although, the king still felt exhausted, he decided to leave the next morning. He thanked the poor shepherd for his warm and kind welcome. He asked permission to leave the place. The shepherd addressed the king as "His Majesty" and, looking directly into his eyes, thanked him.

The king was surprised and filled with joy upon hearing his words. He thought that the shepherd was very intelligent indeed. People like him needed a king. He should work for the king. And the king made him governor of a small district. In spite of all the power and prestige the shepherd remained humble and courteous. People liked him and appreciated his intelligence and kindness. His behavior was towards everyone. He became popular as a good and intelligent governor.

The governors of other states developed jealousy for him. They started speaking against the king. They started calling him dishonest and blamed him for keeping part of the tax money with him. He also questioned her iron chest. He said that he had all the treasures collected in secret. They mocked him, calling him a normal cowboy who expected such dishonest behavior.

Initially, the king did not pay attention to such words, but gradually, he had to. He could not believe that the governor had drawn an iron chest with him. He thought that he should inquire about the reason for having an iron chest with him at all times.

Thus, the king summoned the new governor to the palace. He came on his camel. Everyone felt happy as the camel's back was the most talked about iron chest behind him.

Seeing this, the king shouted angrily and asked him the reason to take that iron chest with him.

The governor smiled and asked his attendant to bring the box. Everybody was very keen to see it and see it. But when it was opened they did not find any precious gold or silver but an old blanket. The shepherd took it in his hand. Hands with pride and explained to the king that this was his treasure.

But the king was anxious to know the reason for carrying such an old blanket. To which the shepherd responded in a very respectful and respectful manner that the blanket was his oldest friend. In time of need it would protect him, if the king wanted, he could take his new clothes but that blanket was very dear to him.

The king was overjoyed to hear his words. The governor was ashamed. Now it was clear to everyone that the shepherd was the smartest and most intelligent person there. Feeling proud of him, the king gave him a large district to see at the same time.
