The Proposal Summary
The curtain rises with Lomov and enters the house of his neighbor Chukov, wearing close attire. Chubkov dressed them well and asked to be seen. Lomov revealed that he had come for a wish. Chubkov assumed that he must have come to ask for money which he does not want to return. After learning that Lomov had come to attend Chubulov's daughter, Natalya's wedding, Chubovic went to call Natalya. Lomov is a 35-year-old gentleman who suffers from kitsch and gets upset very easily. He thinks that this is the right age for him to get married and is happy that he is choosing Natalya. Natalya, he believes, is average-looking and an honest caretaker.
Upon Natalya's arrival, Lomov began a conversation about the amicable terms of both families. Speaking of his land, he somehow mentions the oxen Meadows which was previously a disputed property but now belongs to him. Natalya is under the impression that Oxon Meadows belongs to her family. The two enter into a heated discussion and act childish and Chubovic's admission makes it more heated. They scream and shout while Lomov suffers from extreme palate and a numb leg. They throw Lomov out of the house and keep abusing him. While defaming her, Chubovic accidentally reveals that he had a marriage proposal for Natalya that surprises Natalya, And he suddenly regrets sending her out. She tells her father to bring her back and Chubukov bans himself for being the father of a young daughter.
When Lomov returns, Natalya tries to wander the subject by talking about the shooting. A little later they get into an argument over their dogs. Natalya strongly believes that her dog Squeezer is better than Lomov had anticipated. They continue to argue when Chubkov enters the scene only to make things worse again. Everyone gets hyper and Lomov eventually collapses due to the synergy. Even after this, the curse continues when suddenly Natalya notices that she is unconscious. As they find him unable to drink water, he declares him dead. After a while Lomov moves in a bit, they give him some drinking water and Chubukov forcefully hands him over Natalya's hand, gives him his blessings and asks them to kiss. After regaining my senses, He expresses his excitement and kisses Natalya's hand. Natalya again reassures him that Squeezer is better than Gess but Lomov refuses to accept it and the quarrel continues.
